Spring and Summer Newsletter 08

Welcome to the 4Techmoto Spring an Summer Edition of our Newsletter. It’s amazing how fast time is flying by and Summer is only just around the corner. With regard to our newsletter we are aiming to produce this at least three times during the year at relevant points to keep you all up to date with our news and student activities.

The Year so far

Summer 07 stared with the continuing evolution of 4Techmoto and the opening of our Motor Vehicle workshop. We have been asked many time if we could offer courses and activities with cars as well as bikes so we decided to make this happen. In the early part of summer 07 we acquired a new workshop just around the corner from our motorcycle workshop . For a few months we were busy fitting out the workshop and preparing for new students and courses in September 07.

As the year has progressed our students have been busy learning about motor vehicle and also motorcycle. Its a great success and has inspired many young people to learn some essential vocational skills.

Driving and Riding

For some time now we have given young people the opportunity to learn not only the technical aspects of motorcycles and cars but also to give them first hand experience of using the vehicles. It has to be said that when you learn about the technical aspects of a vehicle you only know half of the story if you cannot experience operating it. Also it is important that we highlight safe and legal use during these activities.

The riding and driving days are a huge success with students trying their hand at riding Off Road machines, learning to balance and handle motorcycles safely.

Our driving experience is based on using Off Road four wheel drive vehicles with experienced instructors taking students on an exciting four wheel drive route.

PROJECT GREENPOWER

The Greenpower project is all about empowering young people and giving them experience in design, fabrication, teamwork and evinronmental issues.

Basically the project starts with the team designing their own electrically powered racing car from recycled components. The car has to meet safety requirements and be to a specific design. After the initial build the teams will test the car at a local race track and then set their sights on competing against schools from all over the country in regional and national heats. Successful teams will then compete in the final held at the prestigious and historic racetrack Goodwood.

If you or your school would like more information on this excellent project then please don’t hesitate to contact us.
